The Utah Chapter of CCIM today announced that Nathan Ricks, Co-founder of STACK Real Estate, has been named this year’s Excellence Awards Hall of Fame award recipient. The pinnacle honor in an evening of recognizing individuals who have had a meaningful impact on the Utah commercial real estate market, the Hall of Fame award highlights an institution or individual that has had a dramatic and valuable influence on the industry. Now in its 12th year, this year’s event will highlight the theme ‘Elevating Excellence’ and will be held at the Grand America Hotel on Saturday, May 4th.

Nathan Ricks began his career in network marketing in 1989 with Nu Skin where he was not only one of the largest and most successful distributers for 30 years, but also an influential and dynamic leader in the network marketing industry. In 2000, Nathan and his partner Steve Peterson started development on Millrock Park, a pace-setting project in Holladay.

In 2006, he began developing with his son-in-law, Andrew Bybee. Along with their partners, they took Nathan’s experience at Millrock Park and pioneered Class A Office at Thanksgiving Park and Thanksgiving Station, creating the real estate hub of Silicon Slopes as we know it. In partnership with Lehi City, they designed a master plan of Class A office space, retail and high-density housing in the heart of Silicon Slopes that now includes many of Utah’s budding and established tech unicorns.

In 2015, Ricks and Bybee founded STACK Real Estate to build, own and operate these and future projects in the heart of Silicon Slopes and along the Wasatch Front. Some of those projects include Sandy Towers, SoJo Station in South Jordan, North Slope at Traverse Mountain, Younique Headquarters, Saprea Headquarters, North Farmington Station, Clearfield Station and the Rose Garden in Bluffdale.

Nathan built a reputation for anticipating opportunities and making them real. Today, STACK is focused on niche development opportunities outside of Utah and building SMART (sustainable, mixed-use, attractive, realistic, and transit-oriented) communities along the Wasatch Front. Nathan believed that in partnership with forward-thinking municipalities, STACK could help build a better quality of life for Utahns amidst unprecedented growth.

Nathan’s ideas regarding strategic density around FrontRunner Stations were the genesis and genius behind the Housing Transit Reinvestment Zone (HTRZ) legislation that many communities and developers are utilizing along the Wasatch Front.

As Utah prepares to double in population, Nathan and the STACK team are intent on making long-term investments to preserve Utah’s unique lifestyle for current and future residents.

STACK’s mission and purpose is to Build People Up while building SMART communities. Nathan Ricks embodied that mission and purpose in his daily interactions with others. “He was passionate about Utah, passionate about real estate and passionate about building people up,” noted his partner, Andrew Bybee.

In addition to the Hall of Fame presentation, 16 categorical awards, including recipients for the top commercial sale and lease transactions of the year for each property type, will be awarded at the event.
